6 Kids + Melting Pot = Interesting Dinner

Karen's cousins from Colombia were in town and Karen and I watched 2 of them while their mom and dad went shopping. We took them to Chuck-E-Cheese to play some video games and hang out. Later we met up with their grandmother and other cousins at the Melting Pot. There were 6 kids in total and I was wondering how it was going to work out doing a fondue dinner with so many kids.

Well everything went OK, although I was a little nervous when they were all fighting over the boiling fondue pot. Dinner went fine and was so yummy. Then dessert came. Imagine 6 kids and 2 fondue pots filled with chocolate. Well, I think more chocolate got on the kids then in their mouths, as you can see by the pictures. It was a great time though and we were glad we got to see them while they were in the USA.

Texas de Brazil

Tonight we went to Texas de Brazil with Karen's parents and grandparents. If you have never been you have to check it out. First you start at the huge salad bar. It has over 50 items including soup, rice, potatoes, and sushi. Then when you are ready the waiters come around with an endless amount of steak. It is so good and so much so bring a huge appetite. Leave some room though for their good desserts. After dinner we walked around Gulstream Park Casino & Shops. Most of the shops are not open yet, but are due to open by the end of the month. The shops will have restaurants, nightclubs, and designer brands. The grounds near the casino are really nice and they have a huge water fountain that changes color and puts on a water show.

Ziti, Broccoli, and Chicken

DiSalvo's Pizza has the best ziti, broccoli, and chicken I have ever had. If you know of a better place let me know. Unfortunately, DiSalvo's closed their Plantation store, so now I have to get it all the way down in Cooper City/Davie off University Dr & Stirling Rd.

Wii Bowling - @KarenRotlewicz vs @AriDorfman - Guess who wins?

Tonight after dinner we decided to have a Wii bowling competition. We played about 4 games and I think Karen beat me on everyone, (don't tell her I let her win).

Volunteer Park Geocache

Karen and I were in this park today for a 1 year old birthday party. While here we decided to go for a quick walk around the park and grab a nearby geocache. A quick .7 mile hike and we found it! This is a great park to walk around and it has spectacular views.

101 Ocean & Hard Rock

Tonight Karen and I decided to try a new place in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea called 101 Ocean. The restaurant is open till 2am and serves pizza, flatbreads, and salads all night long (the regular menu is available till 11pm). They have a DJ on Saturday nights and the place was pretty busy, especially at the bar. You can sit inside or out, but chose inside.

We started with a parmesean & basil flat bread which was really good. For dinner I ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and Karen got the Lobster Ravioli. My pizza was excellent but Karen did not like her ravioli. She said it was to lemony so we told the waiter and he took it off the check. The waiter David (who was very nice) came back later and told us that although the Lobster Ravioli is one of their most popular dishes, he tried it and agreed it was to lemony that night. Karen wasn't the biggest fan of my pizza, but I thought it was really good. We decided we would go back another time just to hang out, have a drink, order flat bread, ad enjoy the music. The place had a nice atmosphere and the people who were there seemed nice. It wasn't cluby or too crowded and the crowd was a little bit older. So no punky kids or stupid drunk people. After dinner we went to Hard Rock and stopped in for a bit at Pangaea/Gryphon and then went to Wet Willies before going home.

Shabbat Shalom

Karen and I went to the Las Olas Art Fair and purchased a really nice painting that was done on a canvas surface. It shows symbols of the different jewish holidays. In the center is a picture of a shabbat dinner. I also got as a gift from Mark and Mimi a Kiddush cup which is really beautiful. Now we can have a really festive shabbat.

Tonight Karen, Rami, and I went to Santa's Enchanted Forest, which is located inside Tropical Park in Miami. When you first walk in there are tons of decorations with thousands, maybe millions of lights. There is also food, carnival games, and rides towards the back. We had a great time going thru the fun houses, eating, and going on rides. Well Rami and Karen went on the rides. I don't do rides. We also went into the petting zoo area and fed goats, sheep, and llamas. This was our favorite part. This was our second year coming here together and we hope to do it again next year!
